Vorskla began their performance in the third round of the Women's Champions League qualification with a defeat against Belgian side Leuven. The Ukrainian champions nominally hosted their opponents, but the match took place on the field of the Belgian club.
Vorskla (Ukraine) — Leuven (Belgium) — 0:2
Goals: Biesmans (3), Reynders (65).
The Ukrainians advanced to this stage of the tournament after convincing victories in the second round over Georgian side Lanchkhuti (5:0) and Lithuanian side Gintra (2:0). Leuven defeated Bosnian side Sarajevo (2:1 after overtime) and Swedish side Rosengård (3:2).
Already in the third minute of the match, the Belgians took the lead after a goal by Julie Bismans. In the second half, Aurélie Reynders doubled Leuven's lead, making the final score 0:2.
Towards the end of the match, Vorskla goalkeeper Kateryna Samson saved her team from what seemed like inevitable goals several times.
The return leg will be played on 18 September at 21:00, also at Den Dreef Stadium
